Hey! I'm Dr. Kortnee
But you can call me Kort!
I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband and three cats, Gouda, Dilly, and Straus. And yes, they’re all named after dairy products. What can I say? We love dairy in our household!
Let's be real. I LOVE all things food. From meal planning to grocery shopping, to cooking and eating, I’m like a kid in a candy shop!
Growing up, there’s always been this deep, burning passion.
- In the 8th grade, I wanted to be a chef, even though I spent zero time in the kitchen.
- When waiting in checkout lines, I loved looking at home and cooking magazines. My mind would be swirling with “WOW! I want to do that!”.
- In my early 20’s I spent an hour talking to a local, pop-up cheese monger. I vividly remember walking away feeling so inspired! Never in my life have I spent 1 hour talking about cheese…
- My heart sings every time I talk about food chemistry. So much so that my best friend got me The Food Lab for my birthday. (The Food Lab is chemistry cookbook that’s the size of a textbook…)
Looking back, I can now see these were little nudges from the universe, guiding me to my calling.
I believe food is so much more than nutritionism, counting macros, or something you have to do to survive.
Food is a form of connection, expression, and creativity.
It's something we get to share with loved ones, and a way to connect with community, culture, and mother nature. Food is the 6th love language, and a special gift we can give ourselves every single day. Ultimately, food is Joy.
That’s why I’m so excited to work with you!
Change happens with the food you’re cooking.
Think about it, at the end of the day, regardless of the coach you work with, program you follow, or opinions you listen to, you’re the one cooking your food!
My goal is to help you see that cooking doesn’t have to be a chore every night, that healthy food isn’t just bitter greens or sad recipes, and that you can make some of the best damn food you’ve ever eaten!
Let's get cookin'!
